Melania Trump to highlight conservation at Kenyan national park

Trump took part in a baby elephant feeding on Friday as she visited a national park in Kenya to highlight conservation efforts.

She will visit Malawi, Kenya and Egypt as well.

Mrs. Trump opened her first extended global tour as first lady on Tuesday in the West African nation of Ghana.

In a tweet, President Trump said his wife has been well received on the continent and Africans love her. "Rarely have I seen such a gap between the interests of the East Wing and the policies of the West Wing", he added, referring to the first lady's offices in the White House and the president's suite at the opposite end.

Bright Masaka, Malawi's minister of education, science and technology, said Chipala is one of his country's best schools.

Before visiting the orphanage, she was accompanied to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust by First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.

After her tour around the former fort, Trump said, "It's very emotional".

Some children have lessons outdoors, where they sit shoulder-to-shoulder on loose, red dirt.

She reflected on the visit later at a meet-and-greet with embassy staff at the ambassador's residence.

The first lady's run-in with the baby elephant was captured on video.

And with Washington imploding over a battle to confirm Brett Kavanaugh, the president's nominee for the Supreme Court, Melania Trump seemed free of the usual scrutiny that nips at her stilettos in Washington. The people love her, and she loves them!

The convoy of the US First Lady however passed by without any incident and Mrs Trump might have seen the protests.

Malawi First Lady Getrude Mutharika returned welcomed the US First Lady.

In the afternoon, Mrs Kenyatta hosted her USA counterpart at State House, Nairobi where they held discussions on their shared interests in areas of health and welfare of mothers and children as well as conservation.
