CBS Boss Les Moonves Resigns Over #MeToo Sexual Harassment Allegations

That Moonves could be entitled to such a high severance is "completely disgusting", said one of his accusers in the New Yorker article. As part of the exit agreement, both CBS and Moonves will donate $20 million to organizations that support the #MeToo movement.

In a statement to the magazine, Moonves acknowledged three of the encounters, but said they were consensual.

In a statement, he said the accusations were untrue and not "consistent with who I am".

Moonves had been in a corporate battle with Shari Redstone, controlling shareholder in CBS through her company National Amusements, which also controls Viacom. "The Commission was created when 25 of Hollywood's most significant institutions - including major studios, television networks, streaming services, music companies, talent agencies, trade associations, and unions - accepted the invitation to work together to set best policies and practices aimed at eliminating sexual harassment and bias in the entertainment industry".

In Farrow's first story, six women, some of whom were named, alleged harassment and other misconduct by Moonves and connected it to deeper problems at the company.

Les Moonves is officially out as CEO of CBS after new sexual abuse claims surfaced.

Redstone had been pushing to merge CBS and Viacom, and Moonves had opposed the move. He will take with him "certain fully accrued and vested compensation and benefits", and any future payments are dependent on the result of the ongoing independent investigation.

Moonves spent 23 years at CBS in several positions and had served as CEO since 2006. "I'm a nothing and this man is everything'".

Weinstein has denied the accusations.

"This is an important time in our culture", Gilbert said.

"The tech companies are replacing these legacy media companies", he said.

On Sunday, Ronan Farrow published another bombshell investigation in The New Yorker. "He absolutely ruined my career", she told Farrow, saying that she was blocked from advancing at the company. Moonves did not comment in the statement.

"I've now come to care for every woman at this table and this is ridiculously hard", added Eve. In my 40 years of work, I have never before heard of such disturbing accusations. "I am happy when women are heart, because for a long time they haven't been". She's been a friend, she's somebody who I admire and respect greatly.

The jailbreak happened earlier this year when Moonves and most members of the CBS board took steps to dilute Redstone's control. But it is far from a solution. Use that money instead to help women.

CBS stock regained some ground in the afternoon but closed down 1.5% at $55.21 as investors seemed to register at least some concern about its strategic direction and leadership team. He has steered top projects such as the CBS All Access and Showtime streaming services.

He remained on the job despite the earlier allegations, and there were earlier reports that he was negotiating a buyout from his contract.

"For me it's been another sleepless night thinking about this", O'Donnell said at the top of the morning show. "And women should not feel they have to carry secrets and burdens". She said she's praying for Chen and her family.

"There is no excuse for this alleged behavior". "I had two children that I was responsible for and I was frightened". "As a journalist, I am confident that the truth is going to come out".

She concluded her remarks by saying "This has to end".

"Gayle said, 'I didn't think we'd still be the story in September, '" O'Donnell related. "It's not going to change until we start talking".
