Ronaldo admitted to a hospital in Ibiza for pneumonia

One of the best footballers of all time, Ronaldo, is in hospital after coming down with a bout of pneumonia while on holiday.

The 41-year-old Brazilian is said to have been diagnosed with the illness after being rushed to Can Misses Hospital on Friday evening.

He was then transferred to a private hospital, and remains there, though he is reportedly making progress.

Brazil great Ronaldo is in intensive care in a hospital on the island of Ibiza.

Ronaldo, who rose to worldwide fame in the 1990s, and played for various clubs, including Barcelona, Inter Milan and AC Milan, is widely considered to be one of the best football players of all time. No further information is now available about his condition.

He scored 62 goals in 98 appearances for his country and played for some of the top clubs in Europe.

In his later years he battled with overweight because of a thyroid problem.

After winning everything there is to win in the game he retired in 2011. Tissue swells, and it can cause coughing and breathing difficulties.

It can be life-threatening, especially among the elderly and those with underlying health conditions.

Ronaldo won two La Liga titles with Real and the Uefa Cup with Inter.

He picked up the Ballon d'Or award for the best player in the world in 1997 and 2002.

Here's hoping that he can make a speedy recovery.
