Manchester City thought Jorginho deal was done, says Pep Guardiola

Sarri will be aiming to steer Chelsea FC to a genuine Premier League title challenge next season after the Blues ended up in fifth place last season and won the FA Cup under Conte. Luiz has started in both of Chelsea's International Champions Cup games at the heart of defence.

But whatever the line-ups, there are plenty of talking points and the game will be closely watched for clues as domestic football reclaims centre stage just three weeks after the World Cup final in Russian Federation.

The former Wigan Athletic ace who converted a penalty for the Super Eagles at the World cup in Russian Federation is being tipped to lift the Blues even as new coach Maurizio Sarri is hoping to win a title even before his first season at the Stamford Bridge.

He added: "We need to defend, I think".

"The table of the last Premier League told me City 100, Chelsea 70 points", he said.

"We can not deny there are more contenders, United, Liverpool, Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham, they have excellent players". "The important thing is that they play better, not their relations with the manager". The team needed cover after Yaya Toure left and Pep said, of Douglas: "I think he has the potential to play with us".

"They're all top quality players, but for whatever reason over the course of the season, Pep managed to get the best out of his players more often than not".

The Italian will bring a switch to his favoured 4-3-3 and should implement a more attacking brand of football but there are questions if some of the players he inherited suit his style of play. While Maurizio Sarri has welcomed back a number of first-team players this week, he is likely to stick with those who have built their fitness over pre-season. Both sides have four victories apiece in the fixture. Cesc Fabregas could be the only player to miss out from that side, after he picked up a minor knee injury in the game. The Blues will be without the services of Thibaut Courtois, Eden Hazard and N'Golo Kante.

Sarri suggested a similar side to the one that featured in pre-season would play at Wembley, meaning 17-year-old Callum Hudson-Odoi could be included. Over 180 young people who participate in Club disability sports sessions, funded by the Premier League and BT, attended the event at Manchester City's Etihad Campus.

"I want to win, because it's very important to have immediately a trophy". The Citizens did the double over Chelsea last season but Chelsea haven't lost three in-a-row to City since 2010 and they might just stop the rot again here.
