Domino's could pave potholes in your town

Cash-strapped authorities have welcomed the "Paving for Pizza" scheme as a way to help fix their damaged roads while conserving their budgets, but some critics have suggested such basic upkeep should be paid for by government.

"Potholes, cracks and bumps in the road can cause irreversible damage to your pizza during the drive home from Domino's", the company writes on its website. They even shoved a GoPro inside a pizza box to show how harmful potholes can be to your large pepperoni with extra cheese.

"Have you ever hit a pothole and instantly cringed?" said Russell Weiner, president of Domino's USA.

Just look up Domino's and Potholes and you'll find story after story of pothole after pothole being filled.

We'll skip the debate on the "great-tasting pizza" comment and note that the initiative is called Paving For Pizza, and Domino's says in a release that it fixed 200 potholes across four municipalities.

Consternation brewed across metro Detroit this winter and spring over Michigan's comparative lack of road-repair funding.

For the creative director of CP+B, the ad agency behind the program, the company's move from mere pizza insurance programs to literal road-paving was a no-brainer.

Customers have the ability to nominate their city on the Domino's website.
