Liverpool to complete £55m Nabil Fekir transfer in next 24 hours

Earlier this week, Fekir's agent Jean-Pierre Bernes insisted discussions between Lyon and Liverpool are ongoing.

Liverpool are close to sealing a £53m deal for France forward Nabil Fekir.

But Liverpool have dug deep and agreed a fee with Lyon, with the Reds reportedly paying an initial £48m to take him to Anfield.

The French International is expected to have a medical on Friday before completing his move prior to heading to the World Cup with Les Bleus.

The same article states that Fekir would be a natural replacement for Philippe Coutinho after the Brazil global completed a £142m move to FC Barcelona in the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder has been identified by Jurgen Klopp as Philippe Coutinho's natural replacement.

Talks have been ongoing, but a power play emerged from Lyon's side, with president Jean-Michel Aulas hoping to lure other bidders into the reckoning.

Liverpool could complete the signing of key summer target Nabil Fekir in the next 48 hours, with the Frenchman set for a medical on Friday. Fekir is set to play for France on Saturday evening against the U.S., a game that will take place in Lyon's Stade des Lumieres.

Fekir will become the Reds' third summer signing following Monaco midfielder Fabinho's £43m move and Naby Keita's impending arrival from RB Leipzig.

'We haven't set a starting price because we haven't discussed that yet'.

A fourth transfer could soon be on the cards with reports claiming a £12m deal for Stoke's Xherdan Shaqiri could be in the pipeline.
