Despite mounting questions, Trump might not fire Pruitt

"You know, somebody has to say that about you a little bit", said President Trump at a FEMA event.

When The Atlantic's Elaina Plott reached out for comment from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) - you know, the government organization Pruitt is running like his own personal bingo hall - EPA spokesperson Jahan Wilcox told Plott, "You have a great day, you're a piece of trash". "You would have thought after Chick-Fil-A that would have done it but he's not going anywhere".

What's not easy apparently is keeping your job if you work for Pruitt.

"No matter how much Scott Pruitt might like Chick-fil-A, public officials are strictly prohibited from using their public positions for the private gain of others, such as endorsing their products", Mr. Evers said.

"I love, she loves, we love Chick-fil-A as a franchise, as a faith, and it's one of the best in the country", he offers in defense of breaking the law.

Sarah Greenwalt, a senior counselor to Pruitt, and Millan Hupp, who worked as Pruitt's scheduling director, both resigned on Wednesday, the official told CNN. Now, Pruitt's ethical woes are leading to calls from conservatives for Trump to fire the embattled cabinet head. The reporter posted the video on Twitter.

Sen. Kamala Harris (D-Calif.) called on Pruitt to resign immediately.

Pruitt is now the subject of multiple inquiries into his actions at the agency from ethics watchdogs, federal auditors and congressional committees.

She is the fourth senior EPA political appointee to resign in the last two months, since news first broke that Pruitt previous year leased a bargain-priced Capitol Hill condo tied to an oil and gas lobbyist.

Pruitt also faced backlash after a letter to GOP Representative Trey Goudy of SC, the chairman of the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, showed the EPA administrator told an aide to buy an old mattress from Trump International Hotel in Washington D.C.

"I don't think it looks good but I like what the administrator has been doing from a policy perspective", he said.

The protective detail cost taxpayers almost $3.5 million during Pruitt's first year on the job, according to EPA data, and is roughly triple the size of those of his immediate predecessors.
