Michael Rotondo, 30, Leaves The Nest

A 30-year-old U.S. man evicted from his parents' home in a court battle has finally moved out - after calling the police on his dad in a row about Lego.

Michael Rotondo, the man evicted after months of wrangling with his parents, complied Friday with the ruling that a county supreme court justice handed down last week.

Michael Rotondo honked and waved to reporters Friday morning as he pulled out of the driveway of his parents' home in Camillus (kuh-MIHL'-us), New York.

"This isn't a game show", Rotondo told the Post-Standard of Syracuse regarding the Legos.

This type of family drama usually doesn't make the news, but Rotondo's parents took the unusual step of filing a lawsuit against their son to get him out of their house, where he'd been living for eight years. But before he left, he called 911 to report that his father had refused to let him search the basement for his son's Lego toys, Syracuse.com reports. The Legos were found after police arrived.

His parents had said goodbye "more or less", he told reporters. He failed to persuade the judge to grant him another six months with his parents and was ordered to leave.

Adding to the confusion is the "other" Rotondo is also looking for a home, though it's in California and he's doing it with the support of his parents.

"I think it's really unfair that I'm not going to get enough time to really prepare a good move", he said. They offered him $1,100 "so you can find a place to stay" and nudged him to get a job.

Rotondo has said the eviction fight is connected with his efforts to get back visitation time with his 8-year-old son. And sadly, other Michael Rotondos got caught in the crossfire - including one who also happens to hail from central NY, in Albany. "I don't have to guess what's behind Door No. 1". He said he'll likely move in with his cousin, who he did not name, after his sojourn in the Airbnb. Asked if that marks a dramatic change in his thinking, given his recent hard-fought court battle, Rotondo answered succinctly.
