Warriors take control in 3rd quarter, never look back

The Rockets jumped out to an early lead against the Golden State Warriors in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals.

The biggest difference between [the 2014-15 Rockets] and this year's version, which beat Golden State on Thursday night to pull within one game of an NBA Finals berth, is the presence of Chris Paul, one of the greatest point guards of all-time and still a force at age 33.

Most importantly, Bell helped guard Houston Rockets' superstar James Harden.

"I don't want to go home", said Thompson, who made nine three-pointers.

Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green celebrates with guard Klay Thompson during the second half of Game 6 of the NBA basketball Western Conference Finals against the Houston Rockets in Oakland Calif. Saturday

Trailing 61-51 at halftime, the Warriors opened the 3rd quarter on an 8-0 scoring run. This isn't the Klay Thompson who, according to Kevin Durant, completely ditched a practice because he overslept, then erupted for a career-high 60 points the very next night. The fact that he's averaged 25.1 and 26.4 points per game in two regular seasons with Curry, Thompson, and Green by his side only adds onto the significance of his success.

The Golden State Warriors dominated the rest of the way to stretch the series to the limit.

The series is tied 3-3. "As soon as we know, we'll say it, but we might not know until the afternoon (when we) see how it goes or he tests it out".

Notable entries on Sunday opposite the basketball game are NBC's America Ninja Warriors, ABC's America's Funniest Home Videos and two-hour Deception season finale, and NASCAR's Coca-Cola 600 race on Fox.

"We like our defense against these guys, and we feel confident that we can carry this through to Game 7 on the road and continue to make things as hard as possible on Houston without fouling".

Steve Kerr can say the Warriors aren't anxious down 3-2, and perhaps they're not.

Both the Western and Eastern Conference finals are going seven games. He'll surely dress and go through warmups and then we'll see.

The Warriors haven't been in a game seven since the 2016 NBA Finals against Cleveland, a game the Cavaliers won to deny Golden State back-to-back titles.

"He can get the same type of treatment", D'Antoni said. However, Houston is moving forward with the mindset that getting Paul back would be a major bonus. Klay Thompson led all scorers with 35 points (9-14 3pt FG) along with 6 rebounds and 4 steals for the Warriors, while James Harden recorded 32 points, 9 assists, 7 rebounds and 3 steals for the Rockets in the losing effort. They were committing careless turnovers. Harden has had plenty of playoff disappointments in the last few years and embraces the chance to get Houston back into the finals.

The focus will now shift to Chris Paul and the status of his hamstring sprain for Game 7.
