If approved, the plan would be on display for 30 days at the Oil City Library and the district administration building on Grandview Road until the final vote in June.

In East Hampton, voting takes place in the district office at East Hampton High School from 1 to 8 p.m.

In addition to general spending plans, many districts are asking for residents to vote on capital projects and spending on school buses.

The drop-ins for Robbins and Wilson will take place from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.

That 2 percent increase would result in an additional $139,480 in revenue and, with a total local tax revenue stream of $7.11 million, would make up 21.8 percent of the total budget.

More than half of homeowners in Nassau County and almost one-third in Suffolk pay $10,000 or more in property taxes, compared with a national rate of 4.4 percent, according to Attom Data Solutions, a California-based real-estate information company.

This is an expansion of an effort that started in the fall of 2016 with sixth-graders and added seventh-graders last fall.

There are also two candidates for the board of education, James Maio and Martin Kelly.

Spending among the 34 districts in Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties totals $2.46 billion for the coming school year.

The caps limit annual increases in local school property taxes under a formula based largely on the inflation rate, and districts that keep within those boundaries have found it to be a sure path to success with voters.

According to a Kershaw County School District press release issued early Friday morning, the school board conducted initial interviews this week for the position in an effort to find candidates who best fit the leadership profile developed using input from previous meetings with employees and community members as well as an online survey.

Under a proposed change to board policy, the board president would have the power to deny or alter requests for district information made by other board members. The seat on the three-member board was vacated by longtime member Joseph Louchheim, publisher of the Press News Group, who decided not to seek reelection after serving three, three-year terms on the board.

In East Greenbush, voters can cast their votes at Bell Top Elementary School - Residents of the Town of North Greenbush, Howard L. Goff Middle School - Residents of the Town of East Greenbush, Donald P. Sutherland Elementary School - Residents of the Towns of Sand Lake or Chatham or residents with a Nassau mailing address or at Green Meadow Elementary School - Residents of the Town of Schodack who do not have a Nassau mailing address. The proposed budget is $41.9 million, and two candidates are running unopposed for two seats.

Polls will be open from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the Waverly High School gym.
