Dodgers Finish Combined No-hitter over Padres

The Los Angeles Dodgers will look to stay hot after winning their third straight game by a final score of 4-0 in game one on Friday.

The feat is the first combined no-hitter in franchise history and the first in the majors since Cole Hamels, Jake Diekman, Ken Giles and Jonathan Papelbon no-hit the Braves back in September 2014. Chase Utley added a triple, while Tim Locator added a double and starting pitcher Walker Buehler added a base hit as well to cap off the offense for the Dodgers in the win. Adam Liberatore completed the combined no-hitter with a flawless ninth inning.

In the ninth, Liberatore had two strikeouts and a flyout as he completed the game.

It happened in Monterrey, Mexico, where the Dodgers played the San Diego Padres on Friday as part of baseball's effort to expand its global reach. The Padres combined to go 0 for 26 at the dish, with Jose Pirela, Franchy Cordero, Matt Szczur and Manuel Margot each struck out twice in the loss. They lost their star shortstop Corey Seager for the season and found themselves nine games back of the Arizona Diamondbacks entering play on Wednesday.

In the seventh inning Walker was pulled for Cingrani, who had two walks and a strikeout in the frame. Los Angeles Angles slugger Albert Pujols swatted his 3,000th hit as well.

However, this is the first time Los Angeles' relievers were able to finish the job in those three instances.

It was the 23rd no-hitter in the history of the Dodgers franchise; the Padres are the only team without a no-hitter in their franchise's history.
