Rams Trade Tavon Austin To Cowboys

Rams Trade Tavon Austin To Cowboys

Austin's 288 catches at West Virginia and 3,413 receiving yards remain school records, as do the 344 rushing yards he amassed in a 50-49 loss to Oklahoma in 2012. The Cowboys told their new rookie to make some room on Saturday, trading a 2018 sixth round pick (192nd) for former Los Angeles Rams speedster Tavon Austin.

The Rams now have seven sixth-round picks with the trade. That gives the team seven picks in the sixth round of the National Football League draft - that's right seven! Austin was likely going to see even less action with the Rams addition of Brandin Cooks.

Both teams announced the trade on Twitter.

#LARams have traded Tavon Austin to the Dallas Cowboys.

Austin was drafted by the Rams with the No. 8 overall pick in the 2013 draft.

He struggled to make an impact on the field for the Rams after Sean McVay took over the team in 2017.

Before the 2016 season, Los Angeles chose to make the questionable decision to reward Austin with a four-year, $42 million extension with the hope that he was finally coming around as a risky No. 1 threat on offense.

It's the second receiver-related move during the draft after the Cowboys dumped franchise touchdown catch leader Dez Bryant in a cost-cutting decision this month.
