Janelle Monáe Frees Herself as She covers Rolling Stone Magazine

'I read about pansexuality and was like, 'Oh, these are things that I identify with too.' I'm open to learning more about who I am'.

'It had to do with the fear of being judged, ' she said.

Monae called herself "a queer black woman in America" and "someone who has been in relationships with both men and women", and explained that she initially identified as bisexual before learning more about pansexuality, Rolling Stone reported.

Janelle Monae has also gone on to tell Rolling Stone that her album is dedicated to people who are having problems expressing their sexuality.

"If you listen to my albums it's there", the singer says, adding that the song "Q.U.E.E.N." was originally titled "Q.U.E.E.R". I love people. It's not about a gender. We need to go through this.

Monae also announced initial dates for the "Dirty Computer" tour, which launches in Seattle on June 11.

In a new interview, the singer and actress spoke candidly about her much speculated on sexuality.

'Women are incredible... and so are guys.

"I've only recently come out as bisexual to my family and friends", Purser, 20, wrote.

When pressed further, she insisted that she keeps "my personal life to myself".

The actor-singer has always been rumored to be in a relationship with Tessa Thompson and hasn't shied away from toying with the public's interest in her personal life-earlier this month she had Thompson emerge from between her legs while wearing some vagina-inspired trousers in her "Pynk" music video.

The music videos for the singles from Dirty Computer have celebrated being queer, and the album will feature an accompanying film where Tessa Thompson-who Monáe was after in the "Make Me Feel" video-plays one of the female "dirty computers" named "Mary Apple".

Janelle has not officially confirmed that the two are dating, however.
