Dodgers will host 2020 All-Star Game

The event will mark the first time that the stadium, home to the LA Dodgers, has hosted the league's mid-season exhibition game since 1980. He touted the franchise's ability to top 3 million in attendance in recent years as another reason why the Dodgers deserved to host for the fourth time.

The MLB All-Star Game will soon be returning to Dodger Stadium.

Commissioner Rob Manfred made the announcement from a platform in center field today and said "it's time for us to be back here".

"There were really three important things that distinguished the Dodger bid", Manfred said during a Dodger Stadium news conference.

"I think there's an opportunity to make the All-Star Game particularly special for the players who come here".

The Dodgers previously staged the fixture at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in 1959 and Ebbets Field in Brooklyn in 1949.

This means the All-Star Game will be played at an NL ballpark five out of six years. Four players from the Los Angeles Dodgers — Steve Garvey, Davey Lopes, Bill Russell and Reggie Smith — were in the starting lineup for the National League in a 4-2 win. You take all the Dodger greats and players and coaches and mesh them. The Angels hosted the game in Anaheim in 2010.
