Motivated by tragic house fire, family hopes to 'alarm' others

If it's even possible, the story of the Hart family plunging to their death on a California coastline just keeps getting more and more tragic.

The family of 12 who have named themselves Christine's Crazy Crew will all be at the festival either paddling or cheering, and they will be dressed up as Abba in memory of Christine in the hope of winning the fancy dress title. Mendocino County Sheriff Tom Allman said one person reported something bobbing in the water almost 40 miles out at sea, but divers didn't find anything, according to Oregon Live.

While authorities have said before that they believe the 90-mph plunge was intentional, as no skid marks were found, this new finding only further suggests Sarah and Jennifer committed murder-suicide.

First responders found Jennifer and her wife Sarah in the vehicle after the horrific crash took place in California.

The bodies of three of their children- Markis, 19; Jeremiah, 14; and Abigail, 14 - were found nearby but three additional children were missing. Hannah, 16, and Sierra, 15, have also not been found.

This whole story bothers me to no end.

Three days before the crash, neighbors had called Child Protective Services after two disturbing encounters with the children.

Bruce and Dana DeKalb, the family's next-door neighbors in Woodland, Washington, called child welfare officials last month because the couple's 15-year-old son, Devonte, had been coming to their house nearly every day for a week, asking for food. The family stayed in that area until the next evening, the state patrol said, officials said.

Police are hoping a surveillance video taken just after 8 a.m. Sunday, appearing to show Jennifer Hart at a Safeway in Fort Bragg, could lead to more information on where the "Hart Tribe" was located Sunday night - when their trail went cold.

Allman said there is "every indication" all six Hart children were in the vehicle at the time.

The family's history provides vital clues as to why Allman said he is investigating the case as a crime.
