So after a rough, 5-0 loss at St. Francis on Tuesday the DHS softball team regrouped, battled hard, but ultimately fell to 1-3 in league after a 2-1 loss at Elk Grove on Wednesday and a 5-0 home loss to Sheldon yesterday.

Teah Bosio and Kristin Weaver both hit 1 for 2 with a walk and a run scored.

The Blue Raiders added a run in the third, but the Eagles tied it up with two in the fourth. Horn scored the innings first run on an RBI double by Aliyah Johnson (Louisville, Ky.).

Cumberland pulled within one in the bottom of the inning, Graham singled up the middle and then stole second. O'Shields gave up the 10 hits and 1 run, but struck out 8 Eagles along the way. It was great to see her go the other way with some pop.

Teah Bosio hit 2 for 3 with a stolen base and 2 runs scored.

Following a fielder's choice from Benz, senior, Kelsey Gravens came up with one of her biggest hits of the season.

"My last outing was against Du Quoin last Saturday and I was throwing ok (three hits), but I knew I could do better, so I worked out yesterday on my speed and I think it helped a lot", Kranawetter said.

With the global tie breaker in effect, Kendall Horn opened the inning by starting on second base.

Graham's RBI single through the left side drove in Hoppenjans in the bottom of the second to stay within one, 3-2.

Angeliz Perez also had three hits and crossed home three times.

Junior, Hannah Poynter (Louisville, Ky.) pitched well, but was unfortunately dealt with the loss.

That trio again led Maiden in the victory over Burns.

Sydney Vernon paced the Indians attack, going 2 for 4 with an with an RBI. Kristen Stiefel was 1 for 2 and scored a run.
