Strong to severe storms possible Saturday in the Midlands

A marginal risk means isolated severe storms are possible. By 8 p.m., FutureTrack shows a line of strong storms approaching the I-20 corridor. We have a slight risk for areas west of a line from Fayette to Tuscaloosa to Thomaston to Citronelle.

Damaging winds will be the biggest threat with any storms that develop.

It was a mild and sunny Thursday afternoon for central and south Alabama, with just a few thin and wispy cirrus clouds this afternoon.

A chance of rain and snow is in the forecast for Friday night.

Friday night into Saturday morning is still the best chance for everyone to see widespread rain as a strong cold front dives south into Acadiana.

It is also going to get breezy out of the NNE at 10-20 miles per hour making it feel rather cool to be outside at the Po-Boy or Boudin festivals. The weather will be cloudy, breezy and fairly cold for April with temperatures falling from the 50s during the first half into the upper 40s by the final quarter.

Friday is shaping up to be a warm, humid and breezy day with highs in the upper 70s and winds out of the south at 10-20 miles per hour.

A few places will even flirt with 80 degrees. Temperatures are hovering in the mid and upper 30s for most of us.

Otherwise, on Saturday, expect scattered showers. Afternoon highs on Saturday will only be in the 50s.

We're tracking an area of low pressure that will move across the Palmetto State Saturday morning into the afternoon. Some patchy frost is also possible early this morning as well. FutureTrack may be a little too warm Sunday morning.
