The 96-year-old husband of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II was admitted to London's King Edward VII Hospital on Tuesday for the planned surgery.

Prince Philip is on the road to recovery.

According to the Daily Mail's Richard Kay, Philip accepted medical advice after being told his hip complaint could prevent him from participating in his "beloved" sport of carriage driving.
