Trump's fortune drops after first year in office

Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos topped the list for the first time this year, according to Forbes.

There are now a record 2,208 billionaires in the world, Forbes counted, and their combined worth is US$9.1 trillion, up 18 per cent from previous year.

Trump's eponymous Manhattan tower on Fifth Avenue has decreased in value by $41 million since past year, Forbes estimated.

Forbes estimated Trump's total fortune at $3.1 billion, far from the over $10 billion he once claimed, but still enough to make him the richest president in USA history.

Meanwhile, Gina Rinehart's four children - John Hancock, Bianca Rinehart, Ginia Rinehart and Hope Welker - have emerged on the 2018 list, ranked 1756 with $US1.3 billion.

Other rich personalities among the top five in the list were CEO of Berkshire Hathaway Warren Buffett at $84 billion, followed by LVMH's Bernard Arnault and Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg at $72 billion and $71 billion, respectively.

Further, Walmart's Alice Walton became the top-ranking (#16) woman in the list with a net worth of $46 billion, followed by L'Oreal's Francoise Bettencourt Meyers (#18) and BMW's Susanne Klatten (#32). The $100 billion dollar man forced Microsoft co-founder to occupy the second spot with a worth of $90 billion.

US President Donald Trump's ranking on the list fell to 766th place from 544th in the last edition, his wealth now being estimated at US$3.1 billion (RM12.1 billion), US$400 million less than a year ago.
