Glasgow Airport is now closed and has been since 7am this morning.

Ryanair has cancelled its afternoon flight from Cork to London Gatwick. "Anyone with travel plans should contact their airline directly for specific flight information".

Glasgow and Edinburgh Airports remain closed entirely, while East Midlands Airport was closed until at least midday.

As Storm Emma approaches the United Kingdom and Ireland, the airline has also cancelled all flights today from Cork, Kerry and East Midlands airports.

"We strongly advise all passengers due to travel today continue to check their flight status by using Flight Tracker and avoid travelling to the airport if your flight is cancelled".

A major winter storm in the United Kingdom and Europe is continuing to disrupt air travel today, with multiple airports closing for the day and many airlines suspending or modifying operations.

It comes as passengers were forced to stay overnight in airports as they waited for news on their flights.

Several Aer Lingus regional flights scheduled for tomorrow between Cork and the United Kingdom have already been cancelled.

WINTER weather across the north of Europe is hitting flights hard in both the United Kingdom and Spain.

British Airways warns that it is expecting adverse weather conditions through Friday.

In the UK, London City airport has been badly hit with some flights diverted to London Gatwick, Southampton and Birmingham and a flight from Luxembourg returned to its departure airport.

Airport maintenance crews, who have been working flat-out, to keep the runways, taxiways and parking stands clear, closed the main runway just after 7pm last night in the hope of clearing it of snow.

Jet 2 has tweeted, "We are now advising travel as normal, and would notify our customers should there be any updates". No Ryanair or Aer Lingus flights will operate from there tomorrow.
