UK reviews Oxfam ties after sex abuse scandal in Haiti

She added: If they do not hand over all the information that they have from their investigation and subsequently to the relevant authorities including the Charity Commission and prosecuting authorities then I can not work with them any more as an aid delivery partner.

Oxfam workers were accused of paying Haitian quake survivors for sex during relief efforts.

Mordaunt said she would write to British charities working overseas demanding they declare any problems relating to the duty they have to protect their staff and the people they work with from harm and abuse - so-called "safeguarding".

She admitted she was considering whether the organisation should receive any more funding from the Department for International Development - which gave it £32m in the last financial year. "If the moral leadership at the top of the organisation isn't there, we can not have you as a partner", she said.

Mordaunt said Oxfam had told her department "categorically no" when it had asked if any beneficiaries of aid had been involved in or affected by the misconduct.

"The International Development Secretary is reviewing our current work with Oxfam and has requested a meeting with the senior team at the earliest opportunity", a DFID spokeswoman said.

Save The Children said all 31 abuse allegations took place in foreign countries and that 16 people had been dismissed as a result.

'We also want to satisfy ourselves that we do now have a culture of openness and transparency and that we fully learn the lessons of events in 2011'.

"We are saddened by the accounts of deplorable behaviour from a group of individuals who have abused their power, exploited their position, and sought to subvert systems created to protect vulnerable people in Haiti", the charity stated.

And the Guardian reported new accusations over the weekend: that the same man, Roland van Hauwermeiren, was also accused of hiring sex workers in Chad. The charity had a fund worth more than $100 million to provide relief supplies and help rebuild Haiti's infrastructure, the Times reported.

Oxfam will examine new complaints from staff members about how the aid workers involved in 2010 were recruited and vetted.

The British government is reviewing its relationship with Oxfam amid a deepening sexual misconduct scandal involving some of the charity's employees working in Haiti after its devastating 2010 quake.

Alleged misconduct by former Oxfam staff members included the use of prostitutes, downloading pornography, bullying and intimidation, according to an investigation by The Times.

He added: "Everybody - the 25,000 staff and volunteers - are compromised by this, the hundreds of thousands of people who support Oxfam every month are compromised by this, and to everybody I apologise".

Marr said: "That was a lie, wasn't it?"

She added: "what is so disturbing about Oxfam is that when this was reported to them, they completely failed to do the right thing".
