Australia beats England by 7 wickets in T20 tri-series match

The win ensured Australia will play in the tri-series final in Auckland on February 21 with preliminary matches now switching to New Zealand. Since the opening match of the tournament, Australia was showing their tremendous performance in the T20I competition.

David Warner lauded Australia for "playing fearlessly" following Saturday's seven-wicket Twenty20 victory over England.

Andrew Tye - 5/10 - Tye picked up the important wicket of James Vince as the England batsman just started to find his feet, but was one of Australia's more expensive bowlers in the innings.

Adam Zampa, the only specialist wrist-spinner in Australia's squad, had hoped he would win a recall after being dropped for Wednesday's match against England.

The grounds in New Zealand are smaller though the surfaces can sometimes be tricky to score on so England will need to adjust quickly.

Though he has led the team expertly and energetically in the field, Warner has found himself mired in a rut with the bat, and Willey's early away swing proved too much for his minimal footwork, resulting in a thin edge behind in the very first over of the chase.

Eoin Morgan's men stumbled to a massively sub-par 137-7 from their 20 overs, with Jos Buttler the only man to provide resistance in Melbourne.

Glenn Maxwell scored a century against England. Australia took only 14.3 overs to reach the destination. Chris Jordan (2/26) bowled well for England. Buttler played a key role in England posting 137 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs where the stand-in captain scored 46 off 49. But in 16 runs both were gone.

Jos Buttler admitted they failed to soak in the pressure as they slipped to their second loss in T20I tri-series.

Buttler was involved in another crucial partnership, this time with Sam Billings as the duo added 43 runs between them in 41 deliveries.

Earlier, Richardson found an ally in Billy Stanlake (2/28) as the duo claimed five wickets between them after England was sent into bat.
