Ronald Koeman Appointed New Manager Of Netherlands National Side

Dutch former star player Ronald Koeman was Tuesday appointed coach of the national team, given the Herculean task of restoring the country's pride after a series of humiliating defeats.

Koeman's long-term mission will be to guide the Dutch back to the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qatar™ after they failed to qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia under head coach Dick Advocaat.

The 54-year-old becomes the fourth coach to take the Holland job since Louis van Gaal left to take over at Manchester United after guiding the Oranje to third place at 2014 World Cup Brazil.

Koeman played 78 internationals for the Netherlands at a time when the Dutch team was famous for sticking to an attacking 4-3-3 system.

"We need a system to get the best out of our players and to get an advantage over our opponents".

The Netherlands also missed out on UEFA EURO 2016 prior to Russian Federation 2018, so Koeman's task will also be to get the Dutch back to the continental finals, which will be held in 12 cities in 12 different host countries.

This will be Koeman's first global job after taking charge of nine different clubs, including Ajax, Benfica and Valencia. In his first season he led the team to seventh in the Premier League.

"I see a lot of talent", he said.
