Nintendo Announces New Mario Tennis Title, Dark Souls Remastered

It's less than 15 minutes but packed with information about upcoming Switch games and DLC, as well as one major new game announcement.

Other items of note announced in today's Nintendo Direct Mini included Switch releases of recent favorites like Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze (May 4), Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition (Spring 2018) and The World Ends With You: Final Remix (2018). It will offer touch screen controls as well as the Joy Con. Dark Souls: Remastered release date is May 25. The second wave, coming out on March 23, introduces Blastoise and support for Mew and Celebi. The Battle Pack is available for purchase now on the Nintendo eShop for $14.99.

Coupled with Bayonetta 1 and 2 as well as Dragon Quest Builders slated for a February release, it sees that Nintendo Switch owners have a wealth of choices for what to buy next.

Hyrule Warriors: Definitive Edition will also be coming to the Nintendo Switch this spring. Additionally, the game includes new outfits for Link and Zelda based on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild game. The Pokemon that changes between forms is coming via paid DLC to the Nintendo Switch. Originally seen on Nintendo 64 in the year 2000, Mario Tennis has since graced every Nintendo system except Wii (which had its own brand of tennis) and Switch will be no different as Mario Tennis Aces serves up its particular brand of tennis on the console this spring.

The big news from the trailer is that Mario Tennis Aces will feature the first story mode in a Mario Tennis game since Mario Tennis Power Tour on the GameBoy Advance. The update will also include new outfits for Mario, like a Knight costume. SNK Heroines utilizes only the female characters from the series as the name implies, and it utilizes a fairly simplified input system only requiring one button.

The new Kirby game for Switch now has a title and a release date. SNK Heroines is coming to Switch this Summer.

Additional content for Pokkén Tournament DX, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle and Super Mario Odyssey was also revealed. Switch players will enjoy a new widescreen presentation as well. New perks, modes, and ways of plays are coming to the Nintendo Switch on February 27.

Indie game Fe uses music and songs to interact with its gloomy forest world. Japanese hacker Joy will be debuting on this version as a timed exclusive.

This Wii U classic hits the Nintendo Switch with a beginner-friendly mode that comes with a new character, Funky Kong.

Sadly there's not much else known about the Switch version of the game, although considering the original The World Ends With You remains one of the most cherished RPGs on any platform, the fact we're getting new content is certainly a plus in our book.

Interestingly enough, the ports for the Xbox One, PC and PS4 versions of the game will be handled by a separate company over the Switch version according to some of the rumors.
