Raiders giving Jon Gruden deal worth $100 million

The Oakland Raiders will sign Jon Gruden to the longest coaching deal in National Football League history - a 10-year contract likely approaching $100 million - when it is made official Tuesday, sources told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Friday.

Under the new deal with the Raiders, Gruden's coordinators will receive four-year contracts, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

The last time Gruden coached the Raiders was January 19, 2002 against the New England Patriots.

Gruden coaches the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to Super Bowl glory in 2012. He was sacked by the Buccaneers following the 2008 season and has served as a color coordinator for ESPN's "Monday Night Football" ever since.

The Raiders have called a significant news conference for Tuesday, at which time they will introduce Gruden as the team's next coach, a league source confirmed to ESPN. He was 2-2 in the post-season, losing in the AFC title game following the 2000 season and the divisional round in 2001.

We also contemplated what Gruden's relationship might be with quarterback Derek Carr and current general manager Reggie McKenzie, and whether Al ever regretted trading Gruden. Gruden is the 21st different coach in franchise history and the second man to do it twice, joining Art Shell (1989-94) and 2006.
