Police had previously responded to at least one other domestic violence situation at the home, according to authorities.

The toddler's cries ringing through the walls Wednesday morning concerned Tonie Wells' neighbors enough to call the police.

Police said they have arrested a man in connection with the death of a Brooklyn woman whose body was found at the bottom of a stairwell is now in custody. EMS pronounced Wells dead at the scene.

WABC reported that part of the investigation is looking into whether the 911 dispatcher who took the call gave the responding officers complete information about the initial report.

A spokesperson for the NYPD on Thursday confirmed to DailyMail.com that the officers in question have been suspended from duty and that the Internal Affairs Bureau was investigating the allegations against them. Wells' young child was also found in the house. The husband was identified by police as a person of interest and was in custody for questioning, WPIX-TV reported.

The 22-year-old deceased, was pregnant when she was found dead.

She was apparently strangled and thrown down he stairs, law enforcement sources said.

Neighbors told the newspaper they were shocked by the violent tragedy. It is not clear what day or time Tonie's sister called 911 or what, if anything, the officers observed when they drove to the home. "It was definitely him".

Police are reportedly aware of a social media post by Wells saying that she was eight-months pregnant.

An autopsy will determine the cause of death.

"An initial determination deemed this person's death to be suspicious and it is now being investigated", Deputy Chief Michael Kempfer said.

"The entire incident, including any potential communication and response issues, are being reviewed by the department", a police spokesman said in a statement to the New York Daily News.
