Ontario College Strike Continues As Faculty Unanimously Votes

"Ontario college faculty have exercised their democratic right and by rejecting the offer have chosen to continue to strike".

Members of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, which represents teaching faculty at colleges across Ontario, have voted to reject an offer from the College Employer Council that would have ended the strike action that began almost five weeks ago.

The Ontario Public Service Employees Union, which represents the workers, had recommended the colleges' contract proposal be rejected.

The strike, which involves 12,000 college professors, instructors, counsellors, and librarians, began October 15 and has left 500,000 full time and part time students out of class.

Ontario's New Democrats have blocked an attempt by the Liberal government to table back-to-work legislation today to end a almost five-week strike by college faculty.

Faculty at Sault College have been on strike since October 16.
