Week 11's Top 10: Nobody's ideal, but Alabama Is the Closest

After getting blown out by Iowa, the Buckeyes' playoff hopes are gone - and maybe the BIG's as well.

The path for a two-loss playoff participant looks quite a bit clearer after Saturday afternoon. The team clearly responded to the Iowa loss, which was a positive sign, and regained some momentum heading into games against IL and MI, the rival Wolverines on the road. But this Michigan State blowout may vault Ohio State past USC in the rankings this week. No. 4 Ohio State in the Sugar Bowl. The Big Ten West is not strong, and their out-of-conference opponents aren't strong either.

But go ahead and talk about the playoff again.

Chubb dominated the line of scrimmage in Saturday's win over NC State. Oklahoma has one of the better non-conference road wins this season at Ohio State, though that win is not as impressive as it once looked. A win over the Horned Frogs would virtually assure OU of one of the two spots in the Big 12 Championship and further strengthen the Sooners' Playoff resume should one of the four teams ahead of them stumble over the next three weeks. But this offense, as good as it gets in the entire Football Bowl Subdivision, gives Oklahoma State a puncher's chance against nearly any team in the country.

That just took six of the top seven teams and boiled them down to three playoff spots.

South Carolina. The Gamecocks' 28-20 win against Florida was doubly meaningful for Will Muschamp, the Gators' former head coach. Quarterback Malik Rosier completed 15 of 24 throws for 137 yards and a score, with the ground game accumulating 237 yards and three touchdowns. The victory was also the Gamecocks' first against UF since 2014, when they took their fourth in five tries over the Gators.

Richt and UM are one of the nation's biggest surprises, but it's Georgia that he had the biggest hand in building: 16 of the Bulldogs' 22 starters - including 10 on defense - were signed by Richt when he was Bulldogs coach. At the same time, Florida suffered another loss and Nebraska was humiliated by Minnesota.

Contenders: The Knights and Irish are the only teams still in the discussion. There were a plethora of ranked matchups and top teams that went down via upset. Here's an awesome fact about the Cadets: The offense has attempted just one pass in back-to-back wins against Air Force and the Blue Devils.

Clemson and Miami are on track for a showdown in the ACC Championship.

But what matters is that we're talking about a two-loss conference champion in the playoff mix.

Auburn (7-2): Yes, Auburn can still make the playoff with two losses.

Remember, Ohio State got in past year as a one-loss non-champ over two-loss Big Ten champ Penn State. How Auburn inexplicably beat that Bulldog team that had for 59 minutes played their best football of the season remains a mystery, but Gus Malzahn's team used that game as a launching pad for the rest of their season.

Notre Dame (8-1): The Fighting Irish will nearly certainly be in if they win out, and their case would be strengthened if Georgia (which dealt Notre Dame its only loss) continues to stay undefeated.
